} Convenient Days at Ridgemont High occurs as 1982 American teen film directed by Amy Heckerling and written by Cameron Crowe (who wrote two a screenplay & a book of the equivalent title which inspired the film).

Plot summary
the story is loosely inspired per month Cameron Crowe, so around his early 20s, spent impersonating a high school student at Clairemont High School in San Diego, California. He went hugger-mugger to run search for his 1981 book Fast Times at Ridgemont High: A True Story, about his observations of a highschool & the students he befriended there.

Students Stacy Hamilton (Jennifer Jason Leigh), an incoming freshman, and Mark Ratner (Brian Backer), a sophomore, are each wanting to find love, & it is helped along by their older schoolmate, Linda Barrett (Phoebe Cates) and Mike Damone (Robert Romanus), respectively. An additional character in the film is Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn in an early film role and the single for which he is however typically remembered), a perpetually stoned but savvy surfer who faces off against uptight history teacher Mr. Hand (Ray Walston), who is convinced that tons students get on "dope." Convenient Days was filmed in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles (although it is never explicitly mentioned intrinsically in a film), & numbers of population identify a moving-picture show thereupon front yard & the teenage culture that existed there, or even was perceived to survive there, in the early 1980s. "Ridgemont" occurs as made-up title, notwithstanding; no California community by that title. Virtually all of the exteriors of Ridgemont High School were shot at Van Nuys High School, and more scenes were shot at Canoga Park High School. A "Ridgemont Mall" shown in a film was actually the Sherman Oaks Galleria, with its exterior shot at Santa Monica Place. "The Point" filmed at a Encino Little League Field around Encino.

A moving picture Convenient Days at Ridgemont High inspired the short-passing 1986 television series called Convenient Days, featuring Courtney Thorne-Smith as Stacey, Wally Ward as Mark, Claudia Wells as Linda, Patrick Dempsey as Mike, Dean Cameron as Spicoli, James Nardini when Brad, and Ray Walston reprising his role as Mr. Hand.

A film's title as well inspired Vernor Vinge's Hugo award-winning short story "Fast Times at Fairmont High".
